Carmi has called for Monochrome as our theme this week for
So let's head to the Minnesota State Fair!
The fair is more than a hundred things to do
and eat!
Seems it's all about what's on a stick at the Minnesota State Fair!
and eat!
Seems it's all about what's on a stick at the Minnesota State Fair!
It was a sea of people attending the fair this last Sunday.
This is as close as I get to the Midway and all those amazingly thrilling rides!
There's so much other stuff to see at the fair, and one day is never enough.
My top fair choices, not just people watching, but all the creative and artsy things people make,
and the ANIMALS!
and live entertainment, no matter where you turn.
Campfire Grill at the Minnesota State Fair
There's an endless supply of food choices one is never disappointed in anything you eat out here.

Looks like fun in black and white!
Now that I've started on monochrome, I'll have to try it more often.

my kinda' fun, awesome in b & w!!!!!
I'd shoot the ride too - from the ground of coursw.
I used to enjoy going to the NC state fair, but it has been years since I've been to one. The older I get the more I look at those rides that get put together and taken down week after week and wonder if all the bolts were tightened!
Food always seems to be a big draw at these things!
Nothing quite as intense and monochromatic photos. Well done.
oh...fairs...best place to people watch
Monochrome is an underused technique (says the woman who never uses it). Love the texture it highlights... And the moods.
You make me want to do more black and white!
Cool photos, like stepping back in time :)
fall is fair season. :)
I would definitely pass on the rides and head straight to the food. So many things to try;)
We used to take the kids to all the local fairs just to see the animals...they loved it.
It does look like fun! You won't catch me on those rides either.
Love those photos! I haven't been to the MN State Fair in years! But I like looking at the home improvement stuff, the animals, and my dad always could be found on Machinery Hill.
The monochrome makes a meditation on the timelessness of the fair, and fair going, Karen. I love your view
Nice work Karen super series of monochrome images, brave choice as the colours of the fair are hard to resist :)
Great shots, love the ticket seller one!

There are many things I love about being Canadian, but seeing this delightful series of photos reminds me of what we're missing. We've never had state - or I guess provincial - fairs here, and from the looks of it we're totally losing a wonderful opportunity.
I love these pics, Karen, because you've so artfully captured the spirit of a very special place and time. Wonderful contribution to this week's theme! Thank you so much!
