THE REWRITE
NOT A CROW
by Me
and Edgar
(ever so slightly)
The Place- Edgar's Cafe, here I sit,
yes, I see the man with camera
with the silken happily certain rustling of each linen page,
thrilled me, as I tapped away behind the window-pane.
The Place- Edgar's Cafe, here I sit,
yes, I see the man with camera
with the silken happily certain rustling of each linen page,
thrilled me, as I tapped away behind the window-pane.
Never upon a morning of rewriting, will I forget, crisp and chatty,
Under many ordinary and uninteresting volumes of remembered myths,
While I plotted, always typing, suddenly there came an annoying rapping,
As if some one roughly tapping, tapping under my typewriter keys.
"Tis some editor," I yelled, "tapping at my typewriter keys-
Only that, and nothing less."
Ah, fluently I'd forgotten it was in the bright of December,
And each continued raving line birthed its creation upon my paper,
Eagerly, I dreamt of yesterdays; modestly I had not sought to convey
From my pages wildly yielding, convey- convey for the found Gilmore-
For he the familiar and gloomy ex-lover whom the critics and I named Gilmore-
Named here nevermore.
and the silken happily certain rustling of each linen page thrilled me-
as I tapped away behind the window-pane.
Surely you noticed-
It's Edgar Allan Poe writing- as once again he slips behind-
the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain-
continuing evermore.
Enjoy your day, wherever it takes you!
