Good Fences and Cause and Effect

and
Cause and Effect

and as always
an overload of reflections
(for me anyway)
as 2015 slips away.

Agatha Christie said, "One of the saddest things in life, is the things one remembers."

But, I disagree.

Those things that I remember, fuel everything that I do.

I offer this thought to you as we begin another new year.

"Let life happen to you. Believe me: life is in the right, always."
Rainer Maria Rilke

So as 2016 begins, we bid farewell to the cause of holiday traditions,
and all their effects to welcome 2016.

First fence arrives from
NOLA.

Victorian House with wrought iron cornstalk fence.

"They can do without architecture who have no olives nor wine in the cellars."
Henry David Thoreau

Happy New Year wishes to all.

"No cause occurs without effect.
and no effect occurs without cause.
No unjust action goes without penalty
and no action or thought
Flows unnoticed
throughout the universe."
Suzy Kassem

My next offering for GOOD FENCES arrives with a row of palm trees and a not so lovely but dutiful fence in Santa Barbara, California.

I believe the design and construction of buildings and especially houses all have their own individual personalities, just like people.

The above photo is located next door to the
Albert Hayman Cottage 212 Palm Avenue Santa Barbara, California

This is the view along Palm Avenue
showing 212 Palm (Albert Hayman Cottage) right center.
The cottage is of
Gothic Revival
architecture.

Clearly showing, bigger isn't always better.
Not a McMansion by any means.

Quaint and homey like.

With attention to detail.

Home, is where one does more than just live.

"I love the dark hours of my being.
My mind deepens into them.
There I can find, as in old letters
the days of my life, already lived
and held like a legend, and understood."
Rainer Maria Rilke

The better to appreciate all that has passed and all that is promised ahead.

Can't you just imagine a gentle fire burning within?

So, are you curious about the effect of time upon this quaint little cottage today? View the link below.

"And now we welcome the new year.
Full of things that have never been."
Rainer Maria Rilke

There's nothing wrong with living in a place near the sea where cactuses can grow outside in your front garden. Happy 2016!

Hey Karen! Thanks for visiting with your optimism in this New Year! Glad to see your new photos and quotas too.
One of Rainer Maria Rilke about finding the legend in our past dark moments I esp. like. Can't imagine living with no memory about different things...They're our blessings and just life. Have a happy creative 2016 year with all your family and friends!

Well, my goodness, time has sure changed the look, hasn't it? Sweet little cottage. The hotel fence is quite ornate..a bit much, I think though.
Happy New Year!!
