It's been too long since I've posted in Sepia Saturday but in honor of
Easter and a look way back
here's my post for Saturday the 14th of April.
Not a bad sized crowd.

This great Easter Egg event has been rolling on since 1878
and last year's event involved 37,000 guests and in President Obama's first year 2009 the White House hosted some 32,000 guests.
We shall see what the Trump event will be this coming Monday.

Will Trump be there? I thought he was sticking to his alternative White House extravagant for the Easter holiday.
Who knows when it comes to Trump, he changes his mind like Minnesota weather. Drastically too. Supposedly it's going to be on and the first lady is going to be involved. She does love parties and entertaining I guess. We shall see, when Monday arrives.

Sometimes when I look at the old B&W pictures of events happening in the late 1800s and early 1900s, I wonder if the people participating in them might have had a little more fun at those happenings than we do because they were EVENTS not overshadowed by so much else going on as is the case today.
I'm sure there will be millions of people there! ;-))

Ah, the Easter eggs at the White House, what a great tradition! So glad you shared these photos from the years gone by. Happy Easter!
I can understand the old fashion Easter egg hunt as a traditional festival of Spring. But putting it on for 37,000 people? How many eggs have to be boiled and dyed? How long does that take? And then hiding them on a lawn? How much time does your three-year old get to collect a basket of eggs? 5 maybe 10 minutes? Then another 100 kids line up. That does NOT sound like a fun family outing, no matter who's President.
I don't really understand what happens at the White House Easter Egg roll. Do the winners of the egg roll races get chocolate eggs? Hopefully there are lots of consolation prizes for all the other participants, otherwise there must be a lot of sad little people there!

We may all be totally surprised at how this year will be. If the great and funny SNL (Saturday Night Live) show regarding this year's Easter at the White House we're in for something quite different!
Great idea to use the Whit House egg rolling party. I like the suggestion that the eggs might be used as golf balls. We do live in strange times.
