Sixteen Years Later

Sixteen years later, where are we now?
Are we any better off?

Of course this,
Remembrance to 9/11
We Shall Never Forget

Ours lakes, and waters abound.
Again, we find our way to Lake Harriet in Linden Hills.
Some close by, many from afar.
But we gather together, stronger united.

"Taking an image, freezing a moment, reveals how rich reality is."
Ansel Adams

"The deepest rivers make least din,
The silent soule doth
most abound in care."
William Alexander

"Listen with curiosity. Speak with honesty.
Act with integrity.
The greatest problem with communication is
we don't listen to understand.
Roy T. Bennett

"When people talk, listen completely. Most people never listen."
Ernest Hemingway

Listen for what's behind the words.

Music isn't just to be heard, it's to be felt.
But even more important
it's meant to be remembered
long in our memories.

Music is a wonderful association to relive
what we once experienced.

Please,
Don't hide your face.
Be free.

"Our selves are rough and unrehearsed
 tales we tell the world."
William Alexander

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions,
perhaps it's because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music he hears,
however measured or far away."
Henry David Thoreau

There isn't anything we can't do
it's only a matter of doing. That is all.

Always,
let your rock bottom
be your
trampoline.

March to the beat of your own drummer.

Important fact.
About photography, to carry us day by day.
Capture things.
You may want to recall them years later.

True fact, not fake news.

"There is one thing the photograph must contain,
the humanity of the moment."
Ansel Adams

A look at the backside of this year's Minnesota 9/11 Tribute.

I ask you, what more is there that we can do
to make things better?

"You have not lived today
until you have done something for someone
who can never repay you."
John Bunyan

We can be who we were born to be. No matter what that is.
Imagine anything is possible.

and just think,

"The nice thing about say baking alone in the kitchen before dawn,
(or quite frankly doing any little thing, like writing or drawing)
is that you can talk to yourself like a crazy person
and no one suspects you're a crazy person."
William Alexander
and Me

Our children hear us cry
go be you
no one can be a better you.

and yet where are we?

Hawthorne ends the story this way;

He failed to look beyond the shadowy scope of time,
and, for living once in all of eternity,
to find the perfect future in the present."

and this,

I have to admit my best part of the evening is watching folks, especially the children, and couples with their wicker picnic baskets, and the American flag proudly waving in the wind.

An excellent post, Karen.

I don't know if we're better off. It seems the war is still going on. When will it end?

Listening is a sadly underrated (and under practised) skill.
A moving post. Thank you.

John Bunyan, not to be confused with Paul Bunyan. LOL Nice post. Music really resonates with me. I remember it long, long after I hear it, and it works on my soul. Have a wonderful rest of the week, Karen.

So many quotes, I like the one about listening. Also, - about the music helping to release the stress and pain.
Wow, how many places you were able to visit and celebrate, with kids and nature. Blessings!

Wicker baskets are pretty rare these days. Replaced with plastic coolers. Wicker picnic baskets say more in their silent presence. Just something about them...
