Back Home Again

Welcome October
it's actually nicer back home than i thought it would be.
Although the weather in Alabama
was by far more like summer.

Enjoying the day at Tate's Farm
Meridianville, Alabama

An aim in life is the only fortune worth finding.
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

But what minutes!
Count them by sensation,
and not by calendars,
and each moment is a day.
Benjamin Disraeli

The cotton fields of Alabama will give you pause.
They are a sight to behold.
My daughter refers to them as Alabama's snow!

Something about each December for me is to remember and express our past traditions, but I also welcome new and refreshing ideas from outside my norm.

So while we were out and about (waiting for the new Goosebump movie) we came upon
a special southern style for Christmas tree decorating!

He who has a why to live for can bear almost any how.
Friedrich Nietzsche

Festive pooch for Halloween- brings this quote to mind.

He's a book full of footnotes brought to life.
He's a jacket made of elbow patches.
Rainbow Rowell- from Carry On

Yep, Lyra and her daddy have been busy decorating for Halloween!

"There is something in the autumn
that is native to my blood
Touch of manner, hint of mood;
And my heart is like a rhyme,
With the yellow and the purple
and the crimson keeping time.

"There is something in October that sets
the gypsy blood astir:
We must rise and follow her
When from every hill of flame she calls
and calls each vagabond by name."
William Bliss Carman

A Pumpkin's Confession. We've been harvested and hauled. Grown worthy to be carved with faces which smile or groan. We're not a cheesy lot. Perhaps a bit seedy and we'll live forever on FB and Instagram. Pumpkin Bon Appetit!

Ah yes, a most delicious lunch it was.

Like all great travelers,
I have seen more than I remember,
and remember more than I have seen.
Benjamin Disraeli

and still I desire more traveling moments!
