THE BURDEN OF PROVING
She moves in exile
on broken tiles of woes
framed about her ankles.
He said, she'd never
escape the weeds
of her days.
She'd always wear an air
of resignation in tomorrow's cloud,
always hanging heavily over
her today's sunshine.
But, he'd be mistaken.
were steps only she mustered
from the embers of her shadows-
Shadows that dwelled,
left an ashy trail at best.
Shadows were her zest,
begging her on.
From the edges of her soul
undoubtedly, there's no cure in
arguing. She treads well the avenue
of her dreams ever still.
If you're lucky, you may meet her someday, along the avenue.

I like the hope against the accusation.
you learn to be stronger than shadows...love the hope entangled in here.
the second photo reminded me of my old car from yesterday with a tree growing in front of her, too. :)
Good one. I think we were thinking along the same lines.
Have a great day.
Wonderful as you've got the time in that car! Beautiful photos!
The burden of proving is one we impose upon ourselves that simply says we lack confidence. I think this poem has said just that, as she moves on into a place of unfolding adventure.
And long may she meander!

I really like that she's going after dreams no matter what other people say!
Yes I agree others, and I LOVE the phrase very much,
"She'd always wear an air
of resignation in tomorrow's cloud,
always hanging heavily over
her today's sunshine."

She had been through a lot and fighting back! That would be an appropriate response! Wonderful lines Karen!

Stunning! I want to send this to one of my fb friends because it describes her so well, but perhaps too well.
The photos match so well too. You are so good at this stuff, Karen.

May she achieve her dreams soon :-)
I like "broken tiles of woes, framed about her ankles". How many suffer from that?
