Well, a girl can dream right?
The Full Hunger Moon is when game is scarce and predators are particularly hungry. AKA - Little Famine Moon and Bony Moon and Full Snow Moon.
So speaking of moons, do you think the moon is ever full at Half Moon Bay?
Okay, many of you may wonder where is Half Moon Bay?

Ah, the beach at
in San Mateo County
Listen to Dream a little dream with me here.
I miss trips to the beach, any beach-
and watching ducks at Lake Harriet.
What is it about open water and melting blue hues
overhead where sunshine brightens the land?
If it's crashing waves,
and honking birds with white sand between your toes, pack a lunch and bring the camera and leave the city noise behind. I won't find it around here.
Of course California and a visit to Half Moon Bay, a short, lovely scenic 25 minute drive from San Francisco, could be the answer.
Tourist stops? There are many.
- and quiet, if that's what you're looking for.
Oh, and did I mention Dinosaur sculptures?
Yes, apparently they still do roam the earth and not just
in South Dakota either.
Did someone mention Lighthouses? Of course, the one pictured below and closest to me now is
Photo take before this winter!
Far too wintry for now.
But, Half Moon Bay, California is the better choice if you're near,
and one idea if you're craving a night on the ocean, with access to lighthouse views, and throw in a hostel for an excellent night's sleep?
Well then why not go to
Point Montara Lighthouse, (founded in 1875 as a fog signaling station) on California's Pacific coast near Half Moon Bay.
I soon discovered why this reminded me of the east coast.
The sweet little lighthouse actually came from Cape Cod, Massachusetts and went back into service right there in Half Moon Bay in 1928 or 1929.
I'm very curious about how it got there, as speculation still abounds about exactly how or why it arrived in California. Another mystery to unravel so it seems.

the gap you open,
into which they pour their fears,
fantasies, desires."

Worry not- just believe
Adventure is worthwhile-
if just for remembering them on those wintry mornings.
Where will my next adventure be? Alabama of course, and New Orleans, and Savannah, these places really wake up my soul.
Enjoy your day, thanks so much for stopping by!

ah...you know I love clouds, and blue sky. :)
What a neat lighthouse. I've been thinking of new Orleans lately, as I made muffalettas over the weekend.
Love those lighthouses! I wish I could see what the one on the cliff looks like in the winter.
Half Moon Bay is south of here!
Just beautiful.
And it is waaaaaaay too long since I have seen the ocean.
I know the feeling of longing for puffy July clouds and lush green grass. Only 2 1/2 more months till we're green here. I'd heard of Half Moon Bay. For some reason i thought it was in Wisconsin. Lol. Have you read Wolf Hall or Bring Up The Bodies by Hillary Mantel? She's an amazing writer. Oh. And a dream of mine is to have a cottage on the ocean, the Atlantic. Or maybe on the North Sea. Now look what you've done! I'll be daydreaming of cottages and water and warm temps. Lol
As much time as I have spent in the Bay Area, I don't think I've been to Half Moon Bay (much of my time was in Marin County, north of SF)
Very cool pictures!
Love to live by the sea Karen, pretty fond of lighthouses too :) Is there a child in the world who isn't fascinated by dinosaurs!
Good morning, lovely photos of your visit to California. The beach at half Moon Bay is gorgeous. I also love the lighthouses. Cute shots of your grandsons with the dinosaurs. I am wishing winter was over and spring was here now. I am ready for my next adventure, thanks for taking me along. Have a happy day and week ahead!
I have actually BEEN to Half Moon Bay, in fact! A lovely time and I really should scan photos from that trip some day -- they were good ones!
Lovely post. We hear 7" of snow is headed our way tomorrow. I'd like to pretend it will go north or south of us but truth is, winter has been mild enough that I suppose we're due and no major complaints!
I'd like some dinosaur sculptures of T. Rexes trying to do push ups.
;-)
love the view of the lighthouse!!!!
