Saturday Centus I'm Living the

Greetings on this sun-less (so far) Saturday for,

SATURDAY CENTUS

This Saturday Jenny, from "Off on my tangent" blog seems to be stuck on exact word counts.  Won't this get confusing?  She says, our centus must be 100 exact words, and contain the prompt, "I'm living the dream, man"  that quote is so (well let's just say "man" is annoyingly overused) but there is a man behind it (an old boss) who said this day in and day out.

Anyway, Jenny is letting us do this with as many photos as we'd like, in any style of writing, it's just up to our creative minds.

My centus,

Has your life ever been so prosaic?

That your evening

Dreams bring you to where you need to be?

Care to follow a little dirt road with me?

Zigzagging here and there

In search of escapades

Of tranquility and amusing adventures

We’ll see

A rage of endless whispering fields

Beautiful colored blossoms

That chatter a worthy song

If you have time to listen

A great orderliness river waiting below

Flowing past my memory

Of  yesterday’s -

horrible could be forest

But rather endless vocations.

Today stretches tall against our skies,

reaching for tomorrow, no matter what

"I'm  living the dream, man."

I just know you want to play along too, or at least observe other Saturday Centus posts so please go here

http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/2012/03/saturday-centus-im-living.html

A special note all of my photos for this post
(due to the watering-river escapades)
I used a disposable camera.

Saturday Centus - It was only ninety-eight cents

IT'S TIME FOR

                SATURDAY CENTUS

Miss Jenny, from "Off on my tangent"
having so much work and so little time for play thought she'd bundle an extra load of work for all of us.  Or so I thought, at first.  Jenny declared our centus must be exactly 98 words

Is she serious?

It must include the prompt of,
"It was only ninety-eight cents"
with any style of writing, and pictures if we wish.

Here is my centus for today in exactly 98 words.

It was only ninety-eight cents, making Taylor four dollars and two cents short for her movie ticket. Her mother’s rules were, “Be creative” like it would be impossible.

Never underestimate a 4th grader on a mission.

The two cents were inside her Barbie car and with a three dollar off coupon to Harry's Foods, which her Grandmother happily exchanged (promising she'd help with chores)

left a dollar balance.  Of course searching her book bag she found a quarter.  She could collect the last seventy-five cents at the recycling center with empty bottles from their garage.

Excellent work Taylor!

Okay now it's your turn.  I know you just can't wait for this link

Time is running out so fast.  Not really, you have all week, and if you live where I do, What in the World are you doing inside today?

Saturday Centus Good Things Come in Fives

Saturday Centus

Jenny, from "Off on my tangent" blog (still waaaaaaaaaaaay behind with all her unpacking) has given us a twist for our centus today.  Our mission is simple.

(5) five sentences, consisting of five words each, to tell a story about her theme (note: not prompt, and you don't need to use Jenny's five words at all)  Your story must be a total of 25 words, in any style of writing.

 Jenny's theme is:

                       "Good things come in fives"

Five years underneath these skies
while the world looked in
her durable state that weathered
from the inside-out of concrete
until now, she's been sold.

Jenny's photo for her theme of

Good things come in fives.

Saturday Centus 3 March 2012 - Proof

WELCOME TO MARCH AND
                 SATURDAY CENTUS

Saying goodbye was harder than she thought.

Her terrifying cloud of uncertainty was about to burst, with each imaginary wheel going around and around. She cringed as she felt her footing slip away. How could she unlock the turning of it all?

There she was, caught in the predicament of agreeing impulsively again. Why was she always the follower? Her raw nerves uttered complete chaos inside, as she shivered from the chilly feeling of an emptiness cold as ice.

Were these dreaded grey waters ahead unfit for human use? She knew what she must do.  Goodbye world....it's time to.....

                           JUMP!

Jenny from "Off on my tangent" is busy with Two Men and A Truck, (ha ha) don't laugh, where I live it's a real moving company!   Anyway, Jenny is giving us an easy Saturday Centus this WEEK.  ha ha! Rules to join in
are pretty basic, this WEEK!

It seems she may be handing out a dreadful assignment next week!

WE MAY USE -  Up to 107 words which must include the prompt, "Saying goodbye was harder than she thought."  ....and no splitting of the prompt.  Any style of writing, and use as many photos as you want.

Feel like giving it a go too, then just bring it here

Saturday Centus - It Takes A Mighty Big Chair To

THIS IS A SATURDAY CENTUS POST

....and we are live from the chilly side of the lake, where diving is nearly impossible, without a severe headache!
If only!  Really this is being staged for Miss (had a horrible-tooth issue Jenny) at Saturday Centus, "Off on my tangent" blog (So sorry hope you're all better SOON) and in her distress, she offers a photo of a chair, "to use or not to use" but her prompt is a must, "The chair dominated the small room" and up to 100 words with it...and more photos if we desire.

Are you game?

From the Capital in St Paul, Minnesota......"The chair dominated the small room....."

At the end of the meeting there were sullen faces and no more coffee.

But who really cares what a silly chairperson has to say?

They can try to pass silly laws......

It's not size or who a person is that really matters.

It's about who we are, inside.

.....and how we make the most of what we've got that truly matters!

WE CAN DO ANYTHING

So how about playing along with us?  If you want to share your own Centus or just read more
please go here

Saturday Centus Special alert- Autobriefagraphical

WELCOME TO A SATURDAY CENTUS POST

Don't be fooled by the six words that follow.... as many of you know I describe myself in SIX Words usually every Saturday, for a different blog.

This is actually SATURDAY CENTUS!

Today Jenny from "Off on my tangent" has drastically changed our usual approach to an autobriefagraphical!  We must describe ourselves/life in six words, and may add a photograph.

You know explain your life like .... "I fix toilets and paid "c- - -" !
Well you get the idea right?!

             Truthfully I'm NOT a plumber!

Another example might be........

Lack of enthusiasm - breaks my bank!

The following six words are my autobriefagraphical so far.

APPRECIATING SMALL PLEASURES AND ROCKY ROADS.

Feel like playing along with us ?  Then please go here

Saturday Centus 11 Feb 2012 The Wedding Was

WELCOME TO SATURDAY CENTUS

Somebody special (in Jenny's real life) is getting married...and we're here to report it.  Or rather the summary of events yet to come.

In any style writing, up to 106 words and oh yes, there can be a photographer as well.  Remember there are more details of this gala affair at Jenny's blog, "Off on my tangent" kept inside Saturday Centus!

Our prompt for today is, "The wedding was at the firehouse."

and so my story begins......

Word that "the wedding was at the Firehouse" spread like wildfire, forcing Mayor Goodman to have a gate installed.

Darn this afternoon sky with unbroken grey clouds and a hint of dust rising sluggishly over the town.  Why not grey weather for a fireman's wedding?  Did they expect a fiery horizon and a starry night?  Meanwhile, over at the firehouse.....

.....not a creature was stirring, not even an escape ladder pressed against the window sill.  No ribbons or banners keeping this all hush-hush.

Not a fire truck in sight or even a townsfolk.  It's half past time to gather together where could they all be?

To be or not to be continued, that is for you to find out next week! - The Town Reporter.  But before next week be sure to check out the rest of the reports for The wedding was at the firehouse.

Saturday Centus 4 Feb 2012 Beware of The Peas

THIS IS A SATURDAY CENTUS POST

Our Saturday Centus plays today with 100 + the prompt of "Two peas in a pod" allowing any style writing up to 105 words, and pictures too!
Brought to you by, Nonna at Tasty Tales..... go here to join in! Thanks Nonna!

If I may continue from last week  If you recall we left off with our (could be body snatcher or? at the iron gate.

We discovered an open area and through serious pursuit made contact again. Only this time he was accompanied by a woman, and looking closer, we recognized her as our tour guide from yesterday. Fearlessly we tiptoed behind them through the village. Don't be silly, we weren't a bit nervous.

Until they both paused, and sharply turned their heads with experienced certainty as if possibly, they felt two very stupid girls were tracking them?  Impulsively they both ducked inside ......

....this building like, "two peas in a pod."

Saturday Centus We Know Where all the Bodies are Buried

THIS IS A SATURDAY CENTUS POST

Miss Nonna from, Tasty Tales blog has persuaded Miss Jenny with our centus today!

We can use up to 108 words of any genre and extra photos!
Nonna's prompt is

"We know where all the bodies are buried." ...and Yes, it may be scary!  Or not! Let the centus begin....

Here is my centus

While snapping pictures we noticed a bald man following us.

Who was he shooting?   Always steps behind us, he was annoying.  His phone rang and we overheard, "That many bodies? I'll soon know where."

Confused, we concentrated on his target, keeping a safe distance behind.

....would he ever stop?

What was that blue thing he dropped?

Finally, he turned at this wall.  Hanging back, we shot pictures like tourists, until .......

He used a key and slipped inside.  When we turned around Mr. C.I.A.-man had vanished.  Now it was obvious what he was looking for and....
"we know where all the bodies are buried...."

To be continued....

Saturday Centus - Cliffhanger Epilogue

THIS IS A SATURDAY CENTUS POST

Jenny, from "Off on my tangent" blog is being especially sweet today.... and I didn't even need all 150 words she allowed, (it's our make-up gift!) ha ha ....truly, I have forgotten all about the only 50 word cut! ha ha ...

Jenny says our Centus today shall use another writing device to create an epilogue for our 2-part cliffhanger!  Hooray!  Wonderful idea! ;)

Notice, he's holding a pretty flower? All is forgiven!

If you need refreshing, my two part cliffhanger began with a couple climbing about Mt. Desert, Maine (with sleds) and ends with her being rescued while he's in handcuffs.

My Epilogue

As sensational stories go, fiction or not, Saturday Centus included, there’s always a superstar-reporter, Noelle Itallwright and she's ready to interview our cliffhanger actors.

The Scoundrel begins speaking to our Saved-Damsel.

“If I, the accused may clarify what really happened, you’d know I was framed!”
“You’re just worried they’ll lock you up and throw away the key.”
“That’s where you begin? Well, truthfully there are far worse things.”
“As only you, should know.”
“Really, you’re going to conclude my brief (Centus) existence without considering my version? Especially when, you never even plummeted to the bottom?”
“Remember, I was rescued.”
“Because, you stupidly slid off the edge; as I photographed the brilliant sunrise.  Now everyone assumes I’m a nasty piece of work.”

She leans in and whispers in his ear,

“Well, which sells more copy; truth or deplorable fiction?”

The End? Maybe.  Only Jenny knows for sure!

I'm leaving you with the key to unlocking more Saturday Centus, because you know you just have to read more!

Saturday Centus - Hanging Off A Cliff- The Conclusion

IT'S S A T U R D A Y    C E N T U S    TIME AGAIN!

..............AND JENNY  DECLARED .....Part two.....the ending to our last week's centus.

So here it is

THE CONCLUSION TO LAST WEEKS
 SATURDAY CENTUS.....

We left off last week with...

Just starring at the very bottom of this steep rise I'm chilled to the bones when I feel a sharp poke in my back and suddenly "hanging off a cliff" I see....

I see.... your feet on solid ground!   While I'm hanging between holding on and falling.  This explains the silent treatment as we trekked along.

“You intended to push me off!”

You're still silent as the arresting officer bounds your villainous hands with handcuffs, and another deputy pulls me up.

“If only we'd gone to Hawaii.”

Diamond Head, Honolulu, Hawaii

Saturday Centus - Hanging Off A Cliff

Welcome Saturday Centus followers..... I hope your 2012 is not going like this.....

Yes, Miss Jenny, from "Off on my tangent, blog" has tossed a really awesome trick of a two part series
a bit like something to keep us hanging from
the edge of your seat perhaps

what you read today will end in
a cliff-hanger

You know, like when you're at the end of C.S. I or N.C.I.S and they say part 2 next week!

Oh no!
Will Stokes be alive or will they locate Gibbs!

Only this will be more exciting!
Jenny's same rules apply, 100 words plus the prompt ....

"Hanging off a cliff" makes 104 words! Max!
Any style of writing, more pictures okay but the ending
comes next Saturday!

Here is my offering

Why am I hauling a sled in unknown territory? Oh right, I lost the bet which brings me to this rugged terrain. Seriously, can’t you envision severe, broken bones?

Even smiling as a clever mask, my scowl remains; after teetering up here so precariously. I was kidding when I said, I’d follow you to the ends of the earth!

Mt. Desert, Maine where a frenzy of excitement runs through your veins; not mine.   Just starring at the very bottom of this steep rise I’m chilled to the bones when I feel a sharp poke in my back and suddenly “Hanging off a cliff,” I see.......

To be continued.......

Next Saturday, same place.  See you then......

If you want to find yourself hanging around some more then check out Jenny's blog here

Saturday Centus - Resolution! Schmezolution! - 31- December 2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
         I'm happy you stopped by

My years end, Saturday Centus!    Jenny from "Off on my tangent" has been so kind to finish the year with such a cool picture (and we can offer more too) and just say what ever.......... in 102 words!  How X-Cool is that!  Very cool!

Here is my offering

Resolution! Schmezolution! Not for me!

It’s been yet another dog year, and again the cats have ruled more than people at my house. This year, I promise to recover my dignity more often, and explain my actions even when I can’t always explain myself.

I’ll try new things, forget who may step on me, ask for attention (without whining) and recognize the joy in everything.  Oh and most importantly, I’ll obey my instincts, understand silences, and always be a good listener when someone speaks!  No begging either!

Pretty much, I’ll just be me and try to stay out of ……

"The dog pound!  Not a good place to be, ever!" the dog.

If you want to view more Saturday Centus, I promise you'll enjoy yourself, bunches
                                                                     just go here

http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/2011/12/saturday-centus-resolution.html

May happiness and good fortune follow you all through the new year and beyond, and remember no matter what - don't step on the little creatures you meet along the way....especially Daddy Long Legs!

If only you believe....
You'd always be safe.

in the here and now

It doesn't have to be that way

to believe
just once more

Saturday Centus Sixteen... a true......

THIS IS A SATURDAY CENTUS POST

from when we were sixteen (16) yes, you read that correctly, sixteen years old.......in just 16 words, and we can add other photos as well.

Mine begins....

"When I was sixteen, of course I knew everything, and said I do, on December eighteenth."

As you can see by this photo of my then husband, we had issues early.....
Luckily, I only ripped it once, so the photo was spared......

Saturday Centus - Would you

THIS IS A SATURDAY CENTUS POST

This week it's no more than 100 words plus the prompt, (106 total) and only Miss Jenny's scrumptiously delicious photo is allowed.  Any style writing.....our prompt is (nothing to do with turkey Thank goodness!)
"Would you like fries with that...."

Notice, these are not your everyday fries either!

My answer to Jenny's Saturday Centus request is this:

Mrs. Snodgrass, an exceedingly snooty billionaire suffered a troubling week. First, while dining at the Waldorf 16 attentive waiters showered her with the utmost attention. When they asked if she required anything else, a tiny voice spoke from behind her.

“Would you like fries with that?”

She turned to see a milk faced toddler grinning at her.

"GRRR!"

Next, her brief nightmare followed, landing her at NYPD’s 5th Precinct after being hurdled from a moving sedan while blindfolded and gagged.

Officer DuGood asked, “Do you remember anything about your capture?”

“Yes, a crackling voice over a bad intercom said, “Would you like fries with that?  Who eats fries?"

You know the drill, if you want to read some more really awesome posts.....or if you'd rather just have more fries, or care to share your own version please do!  Just go here okay?

Saturday Centus Curiously.... We Gather Together

THIS IS A SATURDAY CENTUS POST

Welcome fans and followers of Saturday Centus hosted by Jenny at "off on my tangent" blog....

Welcome to our Rabbit-Fest....won't you come inside?

Miss Jenny is feeling the spirit of giving and sharing as many gather together for a  Thanksgiving celebration... So with no more than 108 words, any style of writing and up to 3 photos we begin.
The prompt is
"We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing..."

If you care to join in or view other posts
please go here

http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/2011/11/saturday-centus-we-gather-together.html

We have gathered our goodies from this garden of rosemary and thyme....

and so my story begins.....
in less than 108 words

Hopping out from underneath rolling fields and grassy knolls,
they arrived from all over the countryside.
All bright eyed and bushy tailed these delightful bunnies were
to share this day's bounty together.
Having survived a succession of victories
from so many hunters
this large circle of kindred souls united together
while father bunny announced
"We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing"
while dining from a cook who makes
grass taste yummy.
We're thankful but curious
what are the humans doing
this Thanksgiving Day?

Shall we take a look-see .....

"It's my ball now...."

If you're going to add football to your celebrations
may your team do well
and to all I'm sending a
Happy Thanksgiving Day!
